Old houses, original wiring
West Adams has one of the largest concentrations of pre-1930 housing in Los Angeles: Craftsman bungalows, Queen Anne and Victorian houses, and Spanish Colonial Revival built out along Adams and Jefferson before the Second World War. The architecture is the reason people move here and the reason our phone rings. Houses of that age were wired for a few lamps and an iron, and many still carry some portion of their original knob-and-tube.
What we see repeatedly: a 60- or 100-amp service feeding a house that now has central air, a remodeled kitchen and a car in the driveway; two-prong receptacles throughout; original conductors buried under blown-in attic insulation; and decades of additions spliced into boxes nobody can reach. None of that is unusual here and none of it is unfixable.
Historic preservation constraints
Several West Adams blocks sit inside Historic Preservation Overlay Zones, which affects anything visible from the street: meter and panel locations on a front elevation, exterior conduit runs, and exterior fixtures. We plan routes and equipment placement with that in mind rather than discovering it at inspection.

Yes. The practical effect on electrical work is mostly about visible exterior changes: where a panel or meter can go on a street-facing elevation, how conduit is run, and what exterior fixtures look like. We plan for it before filing.
Is knob-and-tube wiring in my West Adams house dangerous?
